Lions are the World's Largest Service Club Organization
46,000 clubs and 1.5 million members make us the world's largest service club organization. We're also one of the most effective. Members do whatever is needed to help their local communities. Founded in 1917 by Chicago business leader Melvin Jones. We are best known for fighting blindness. In 1925 Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness". - It’s part of our history as well as our work today. We also perform volunteer work for many different kinds of community projects - including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled.
