Sight & Hearing Conservation

Lions International Recycle for Sight Program

Picture
  • Through this program, the Lions Club collects used eyeglasses, where they are cleaned, repaired, and sorted by prescription strength at specialized recycling centers. These refurbished glasses are then distributed to children and adults in need, particularly in developing nations, to improve vision and quality of life.
  • The program accepts prescription glasses, reading glasses, sunglasses, and plastic or metal frames
  • Collection buckets can be found around town at:
    • Pondra's Homes & Hearth Realty @ 9 College Street
    • Clinton Agway @ 9 Kirkland Ave
    • Boscov's @ Sangertown Square Mall
    • Empire Visionworks @ 4551 Commercial Drive

Hearing Charities of America's Hearing Aid Project

Collection of used hearing aids
  • Collected hearing aids go to support the Hearing Charities of America's Hearing Aid Project
  • We are grateful to accept hearing aids, new batteries, cases, and chargers. However, please note that we cannot accept expired batteries, watches, telephones, and similar items, as HCoA are unable to refurbish and donate them

Eye care for local youth

Picture
We are proud to provide free eye exams and glasses for children in need in our community!

We do this by working with local school nurses & social workers to identify students who could benefit from financial assistance to acquire eye care. If a student is identified, the nurse or social worker will notify our club, and connect us with the student's parents/guardians to offer assistance.

Should their parents agree to take part in the program, the student will be seen by a provider at Towpath Vision Care, a locally-owned CNY Optometry office - with all costs for their vision test and glasses covered by the Clinton Lions Club!
