CCS Student of the Month

Picture
Studies consistently show that students who are active contributors in high school often continue their active roles in higher education and their communities.

In an effort to celebrate and encourage dedicated students like these, each month the Clinton Lions proudly recognize a graduating senior from Clinton High School as our Student of the Month.

These exceptional seniors are celebrated for their commitment to academic excellence and their active involvement within both the school and local community.
How Students Are Selected:
  • Clinton High School guidance counselors identify candidates based on their "contributor" status—students who actively engage beyond academics
  • Our honorees pursue diverse post-graduation paths, ranging from college to vocational trades, and embody the spirit of community engagement

Recognition & Benefits:
  • Award Ceremony: Selected students and their families are invited to our monthly meeting (typically the second Thursday) for dinner and a special certificate presentation
  • Community Spotlight: A photograph and brief write-up about the student are submitted to the Waterville Times for local publication
  • Awards: Each recipient receives a formal recognition certificate and a gift card to a local business

Introducing our February Student of the Month, Gavin Kapes VanSlyke!

Picture
Beyond his dedication to the soccer and tennis teams, Gavin is a true innovator and driving force behind the local Competitive Robotics Team. He was instrumental in transforming the team from a community group into a school organization, even helping integrate it directly into the course curriculum allowing students to formalize their robotics education. With the team competing four times a year in general robotics, cars, trains, and planes, Gavin's passion and leadership truly shine.

He plans to pursue his interest further by majoring in Mechatronics at either Rochester Institute of Technology or Worcester Polytechnic Institute. We are incredibly proud of Gavin's remarkable achievements and wish him all the best in his bright future!
