Clinton's Community Collection Day (hosted by the Clinton Area Ministerium) takes place each spring in the village as a fundraising event for The Country Pantry. In exchange for non-perishable food or monetary donations to the Country Pantry, members of the community can drop off any of the following:
The best part is that you don't even have to get out of your car - the event is set up as a drive-through with volunteers unloading whatever you are looking to dispose of right from your vehicle! In addition to recycling the above, there is a baked goods sale in front of Stone Church; funds raised go to The Country Pantry. Last but not least, there is an organized event this day to collect any trash that's been misplaced around town. Toss on some old clothes and join us as we help restore our village's beauty after a long, cold winter! |
Kirkland Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive
|
Clinton Lions are proud to support The Salvation Army in their annual, iconic Red Kettle Campaign, by coordinating participation in the Kirkland community.
Each year from November to December, you can find Lions around town ringing the bell to raise funds for the crucial work done by TSA, which includes (but is not limited to):
All funds raised stay local, so your donation directly helps families in need in Kirkland! |
Used crayon collection for The Crayon Initiative
|
The Crayon Initiative's mission is to bring happiness to children who are facing the stress of hospitalization by giving them the freedom that comes with creative play. Studies show that art therapy can reduce heart rates, improve cognition, release endorphins and alleviate stress - all important things for kids who are undergoing medical treatment.
The Crayon Initiative achieves their mission by collecting unwanted and/or used crayons, then melting them down to make new crayons for children at hospitals across the country. The founder of the organization consulted an occupational therapist and gave the refurbished crayons a unique design—large and three-sided, not round—so they’re easy for kids to grip and can’t roll off hospital trays. The Clinton Lions work to support this unique and meaningful initiative by collecting crayons in the community and delivering them to be repurposed and given new life for kids in need of a smile. |
